### Racing Returns to Southside Speedway in Virginia

Southside Speedway is officially bringing races back to the Richmond, Virginia, area, alongside several planned improvements to the track.

In partnership with Chesterfield County, Southside Speedway has announced the return of racing, with revitalization plans aimed at enhancing multiple aspects of the track’s operations. The Chesterfield Economic Development Authority has finalized a 20-year ground lease-to-purchase agreement for the facility.

As part of this initiative, investor group Competitive Racing Investments (CRI) has committed to revitalizing the track and restoring auto racing to the region. CRI envisions transforming the 47-acre site into a dynamic hub for year-round entertainment and special events.

Known as “The Toughest Short Track in the South,” the 0.33-mile Southside Speedway first opened along Genito Road in 1959. Over the years, legendary drivers, including Richard Petty, have raced at the track, which last hosted competitions in 2019.

With these restoration efforts, Southside Speedway is poised to reclaim its status as a premier racing destination in Virginia.
