### Puyallup Tribe and Northwest Seaport Alliance Plan New Tacoma Terminal

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians has entered into a historic partnership agreement with the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) to develop a new berth at the Port of Tacoma. This initiative expands the current berth capacity for the world’s largest shipping lines, enhancing the Seattle-Tacoma gateway’s ability to capture market share and boost economic activity across the region.

As outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Tribe and NWSA plan to construct a new pier adjacent to an existing one on the East Blair Waterway. They will jointly market and operate both facilities. The new site, spanning 22 acres of tribal land, will be dedicated to handling breakbulk cargo, functioning as a roll-on/roll-off shipping terminal.

“By working together, we can leverage our collective strengths to enhance our competitiveness, attract new business, and further solidify our position as a leading gateway for global trade,” said John McCarthy, Port of Tacoma Commission President and Northwest Seaport Alliance Co-Chair.
