Publix, a Lakeland-based grocery store chain, has recently acquired two shopping centers in Central Florida. This strategic move is part of Publix’s plan to reshape the retail real estate market by acquiring properties where it serves as the anchor tenant throughout the Southeast.
The first property, Lake Brandon Plaza located at 11255 Causeway Blvd. in Brandon, was purchased for $38 million by an entity linked to Publix. The second property is North Pointe Plaza located at 15001 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Carrollwood and was acquired for $24.9 million by the same entity.
Both properties were previously owned by Site Centers, a publicly traded real estate investment trust that specializes in shopping centers based out of Ohio.
This recent acquisition further solidifies Publix’s position as a dominant player in the retail market and showcases their strategic approach to expanding their presence throughout Florida and beyond.
