### Prosper Welcomes New Costco
The Dallas-Fort Worth community of Prosper is experiencing rapid growth, with its population increasing by 46,600 residents from July 2023 to July 2024—making it the fourth-fastest-growing area in the country. Few companies follow population trends as closely as Costco, and the retail giant has made its mark in the rapidly expanding town.
Construction on Prosper’s new Costco, located at the northeast corner of FM 1385 and University Drive, began in March 2024. The store recently opened, with an estimated project cost of $17.5 million. The new warehouse is expected to employ 230 people.
Costco’s expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex doesn’t stop in Prosper. The retailer plans to open a new location in Allen this summer, followed by another store at The Village at Ownsby Farm in Celina in early 2026. A future location is also in the works for Forney. Currently, Costco operates more than 40 stores across Texas, including 15 in the DFW metro area.
According to the **Dallas Business Journal**, the DFW metro area remains a strong retail market, with retail occupancy at 95.1% in 2024—just slightly below the record high of 95.2% in 2023.
With its rapid population growth and robust retail market, Prosper’s new Costco marks another milestone in the town’s ongoing expansion.
