Advocate Health Care has revealed its plans to allocate $1 billion towards the development of a new hospital, 10 outpatient locations, and other initiatives in Chicago’s South Side over the next decade.
The upcoming hospital will be situated on 23 acres at 8080 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive within the Quantum Campus. With a budget of $300 million and capacity for 53 beds, this facility will not only bring much-needed healthcare services to the area but also create job opportunities for residents while expanding access to primary and specialty care.
According to Curt Bailey, President of Related Midwest, “the addition of an advanced Advocate hospital is a major milestone for the Southeast Side. It will not only provide essential healthcare services but also support our vision of establishing a robust economic hub in this region.” He further added that Advocate’s investment would result in approximately 1,000 new jobs and stimulate future developments that complement both their project at DuSable Lake Shore as well as benefitting Ward Seven and surrounding neighborhoods in South Chicago.
