**Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Advances with Community Agreement**
A major step forward was announced Tuesday in the long-anticipated redevelopment of the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx. The Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition and 8th Regiment Partners, the selected development team, have reached a collaborative agreement to guide the historic transformation of the site.
As part of the agreement, the project will include two long-term subleased condominium spaces designated for community use, up to 20,000 square feet of affordable commercial space, and a strong commitment to labor rights. The developer has pledged to support neutrality agreements that promote quality, family-sustaining jobs and safeguard workers’ rights to organize across the redevelopment.
This Memorandum of Understanding follows months of extensive, good-faith negotiations between the community and the development team, a joint venture between Maddd Equities and Joy Construction. With the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) officially underway, the long-delayed redevelopment is now actively progressing through the city’s public approval process.
“This MOU is a historic document that outlines exactly how our team will work together with the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition to bring the Kingsbridge Armory to life, for the betterment of this neighborhood and the Bronx,” said Gabriella Sottile, Principal at Maddd Equities.
The redevelopment project is set to play a key role in revitalizing the surrounding community while preserving local interests and guaranteeing community benefits.
