"Portland Diamond Project Prepares $50M Land Offer to Bring MLB to City"

The Portland Diamond Project, a leading group advocating for the arrival of Major League Baseball in Portland, is poised to present a $50 million land proposal to the City. According to reports from the Portland Business Journal, representatives from the Diamond Project recently met with city officials regarding their interest in purchasing RedTail Golf Course in Beaverton as a potential site for their stadium. Negotiations are currently underway for acquiring this 164-acre property with plans of developing it into an expansive sports and entertainment district that would be unprecedented within MLB history.

While other locations such as Lloyd Center, downtown Portland’s public schools headquarters and Port of Portland’s Terminal 2 were previously considered as possible sites for this sports park project, they have since been ruled out. As one of only several cities being considered by MLB league officials should expansion occur up to 32 teams, all eyes are on whether or not this ambitious endeavor will come to fruition within The Rose City.
