**Port Canaveral Announces $69 Million Expansion of Cruise Terminal 5**
Port Canaveral is moving forward with a $69 million expansion of Terminal 5 to accommodate larger cruise ships and increasing passenger demand. The redevelopment will nearly double the terminal’s size—from 90,000 square feet to 170,000 square feet.
The expansion will introduce several key upgrades, including enhanced security screening areas, a new VIP lounge, a larger luggage handling zone, a relocated U.S. Customs & Border Protection inspection station, and additional general seating for passengers.
This project is a part of Port Canaveral’s broader $500 million long-term investment initiative aimed at enhancing both landside and waterside infrastructure. The multi-year strategy focuses on boosting the port’s capacity and operational efficiency.
Over the next five years, the port’s development plan includes large-scale infrastructure projects designed to support the arrival of next-generation cruise ships. Additional efforts involve the modernization and expansion of cargo berths and bulkheads, upgrades to facility maintenance systems, the implementation of new technologies across port operations, and improvements to visitor facilities such as Jetty Park.
This significant investment underscores Port Canaveral’s commitment to maintaining its role as a global cruise and cargo leader, while continuing to enhance passenger experience and operational capability.
