Plano’s Collin Creek Mall made its grand debut in 1981, but after nearly four decades of operation, it closed its doors without much fanfare in 2019. However, the property did not stay dormant for long as Centurion American stepped in with a $1 billion redevelopment plan. In early 2021, demolition began and construction on the mixed-use project is set to commence next month.
The ambitious development will span across 100 acres near US-75 and feature a diverse mix of residential and commercial spaces. The first phase will include the construction of 500 single-family homes while subsequent phases will bring forth an additional 2,300 apartments along with a hotel and office buildings. To accommodate residents’ vehicles as well as visitors’, there are plans for a massive underground garage that can hold up to 2,000 cars at an estimated cost of $67 million.
Aside from providing modern living options and convenient amenities within walking distance for future residents, this project also prioritizes green space by setting aside eight acres for parks and incorporating over one mile worth of trails throughout the development area. With groundbreaking set to take place soon on Plano’s newest addition – which is expected to be completed within several years – excitement continues to build among locals eager to see what this transformative project has in store.
