For years, Bay West Development has been working on an ambitious plan to convert a former big box store into a mixed-use project. On May 1, the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission will decide whether or not to approve this proposal which includes 501 apartment units, 33 townhomes and 70,000 square feet of commercial space with office space and a 100-key hotel. The current Fry’s store occupying the land is 172,800 square feet in size.
In 2021 Bay West was denied their request for 833 apartments spread across two five-story buildings; an eight-story hotel with 100 rooms; and 123,600 square foot six story office building. Now they await the decision from Plano’s Planning & Zoning Commission that could make their dream come true.
