For years, Bay West Development has been working to convert a former big box store into a mixed-use project in Plano. On May 1, the ambitious plan will be put before the city’s planning and zoning commission for approval. If approved, 501 apartment units, 33 townhomes and 70,000 square feet of commercial space will be built on the property – including office space and a 100-key hotel. The existing Fry’s store is 172,800 square feet in size.
In 2021 Bay West was denied an earlier request that included 833 apartments across two five-story buildings; an eight-story hotel with 100 rooms; and 123 600 sq ft of office building spread over six stories. Now they await their fate as decision day approaches on May 1st for this new proposal at the Fry’s site in Plano Texas
