"Plano Approves Revamp of Struggling Mall"

The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano is situated in a prime location, making it a desirable destination for shoppers. However, due to changing consumer habits and the impact of Covid-19, the once-thriving retail center has experienced a decline. In an effort to revive this retail-focused space, Centennial Real Estate Management LLC has proposed an ambitious redevelopment plan that was recently approved by Plano’s Planning & Zoning Commission.

According to reports from the Dallas Business Journal, Centennial plans to demolish 530,000 square feet of retail space and replace it with 965 apartments as well as an 18-story hotel and seven-story office building over the next few years. The remaining 400,000 square feet will be maintained and include popular retailers such as Macy’s Dillard’s , Neiman Marcus , Crate & Barrel , Equinox , restaurants, and three parking structures.

This revitalization project aims to breathe new life into this struggling mall without compromising its existing anchor tenants or overall character. With approval secured from city officials, the future looks bright for The Shops at Willow Bend.
