"Planning for Savannah Convention Hotel Underway"

A collaboration between Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest is in the works for a 400-room convention hotel in Savannah. The project’s timing aligns with the ongoing $276 million expansion of the Savannah Convention Center, making it an opportune time to begin work on this venture. The team plans to commence construction next year after completing design, engineering, and pricing phases that will include seeking public funding.

According to reports from the Atlanta Business Chronicle, House Bill 1041 has been passed by Georgia’s House of Representatives which could pave way for financing of the proposed convention hotel in Savannah. This legislation would increase bonding capacity up to $400 million for the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority.

The waterfront location on Hutchison Island has been selected as a prime spot for this new hotel development. Discussions are underway with Hilton Worldwide Holdings regarding potential branding opportunities.
