PHX Surf has submitted revised plans to the City of Maricopa’s Development Services Department. The changes include reducing the size from 70 acres to 30 acres and scaling back from two surf pools to one. Other modifications in the updated plan omit a lazy river, water slides, and an outdoor music venue. However, this 30-acre surf park will still feature a 10-acre wave pool along with a resort, pickleball courts, spa services, retail stores and restaurants.
Maricopa officials report that due to economic constraints as well as water issues supply chain challenges have caused PHX Surf developer’s decision for downsizing their project; however they emphasize that these alterations do not diminish its quality or community benefit in any way.
The Phoenix area is abuzz with numerous surf/water park proposals such as VAI Resort & Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale plus Cannon Beach Surf Park located in Mesa .
