5C Data Centers (5CDC), a leading provider of data center services, has announced plans to expand its operations to Phoenix, Arizona. The company’s first facility in the region, PHX01, is expected to be operational by 2025.
Located near downtown Phoenix and spanning 140,000 square feet with a critical IT power capacity of 20MW, PHX01 will be equipped with cutting-edge technology designed for the latest GPUs and direct-to-chip liquid cooling. This will allow it to support high-demand AI and machine learning workloads with power densities reaching up to 132kW per cabinet.
As part of its commitment towards climate responsibility in expansion efforts, Montreal-based 5CDC will implement adiabatic trim cooling and heat-tolerant coolant inlet temperatures at PHX01. These measures are expected to significantly reduce water usage as well as minimize energy consumption. In a statement released by the company, it highlighted Phoenix’s reputation for access to renewable energy sources along with its pool of skilled talent and low risk for natural disasters as key factors in choosing this location for their new data center region.
