Phoenix Approves Gila Foothills Expansion Plan

The Phoenix City Council has approved a zoning proposal for the development of Gila Foothills, a 300-acre master-planned community located southwest of Phoenix. The project will be situated on agricultural land along Loop 202, just north of South Mountain. It is set to include a resort spanning 50 acres, as well as housing and a hospital in Laveen Village.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the plan outlines specific requirements for this development including 1,200 housing units. However, if certain criteria are met such as bringing in a Level 1 trauma hospital and various amenities like restaurants and retail options along with senior housing and townhomes; an additional thousand units may be developed on-site. This exceeds the previous zoning allowance for nearly three thousand residential units.

The team behind this project includes Enterprise Capital alongside Gila & Salt River Development LLC., Butler Housing Co., Davis Companies Inc., Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc., Berry Riddell LLC.

This expansive plan has been given approval by city officials in order to bring new growth opportunities to the area without mentioning any specific company names or Connect CRE’s involvement.
