Kyowa Kirin, a leading pharmaceutical company, has announced plans to invest $530 million in the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Sanford, North Carolina. This state-of-the-art facility will span 171,700 square feet and feature two reactors to accelerate the development and production of biologic therapies for patients with rare and serious diseases.
Located on a 75-acre campus at Helix Innovation Park at The Brickyard, this new facility offers room for future expansion. Construction is set to begin in the second half of 2024 with full operation expected by 2027. Kyowa Kirin’s investment will be supported by performance-based incentives from both state and local governments totaling $10 million over a period of twelve years. This project is also expected to create over one hundred high-paying jobs with an average salary of $91,496.
With its strategic location within the Research Triangle Park region – home to prestigious universities and community colleges offering specialized curricula and training – Kyowa Kirin aims to tap into an extensive network of biomanufacturing resources as well as highly skilled talent pool for its operations.
