P&G Files Master Plan for South Boston Gillette Campus Redevelopment
Procter & Gamble’s Gillette division has submitted a comprehensive master plan to Boston city officials for the 31-acre redevelopment of its South Boston campus. This marks a significant step in the company’s effort to reimagine its Massachusetts footprint as it relocates manufacturing operations out of South Boston.
According to the Boston Globe, the proposed plan outlines a 5.7-million-square-foot mixed-use development featuring 1,800 housing units spread across nine buildings totaling 1.7 million square feet. Additionally, the project will include 3.5 million square feet of commercial space for offices and laboratories, 200,000 square feet dedicated to retail and dining, and 250,000 square feet reserved for hotel use.
Once completed, the expansive redevelopment is expected to transform the South Boston waterfront. However, full build-out could take a decade or more.
“We’ve long been proud of our heritage here in Massachusetts,” said Kara Buckley, Vice President of Community Affairs at Gillette. “We’re excited about the legacy we could leave behind through this plan.”
