The Los Angeles City Planning Commission (CPC) approved the proposed permanent Al Fresco outdoor dining program for private property on Thursday. This recommended program, initiated during the pandemic as a relief tool for restaurant owners, would save them both money and time when applying for Planning approvals.
“COVID-19 emergency measures at the state and local levels granted temporary relief but did not provide a pathway to make outdoor dining a permanent reality,” said CPC president Samantha Millman. “Our proposed updates build upon this success by making an outdoor dining program accessible and financially viable citywide.”
The proposed ordinance will now go to the Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee for consideration before being considered by the full City Council; dates have yet to be determined.
