Peninsula Phase Two Groundbreaking

Peninsula Phase Two Groundbreaking

Phase Two of The Peninsula, a $297 million development in the Bronx’s Hunts Point neighborhood, has officially begun construction. This two-building project is sponsored by multiple entities including Hudson Companies, Gilbane Development Company, and Wells Fargo Bank. It will provide 359 affordable units for low-income households with 15% designated for formerly homeless families. The completion date is set for summer 2026.

The former site of a juvenile detention center, this project aims to not only provide housing but also create community spaces and opportunities for families in Hunts Point. According to Serena Deng, development director at The Hudson Companies: “The significant impact that The Peninsula has already had on families in Hunts Point reinforces our ongoing commitment to developing affordable housing that allows them to stay and thrive within their communities.”

This groundbreaking marks an important step towards fulfilling the need for affordable housing options in the area while incorporating sustainable design elements such as rainwater harvesting and solar roof panels. With its focus on creating lasting impacts within the community it serves, Phase Two of The Peninsula is poised to make a positive difference in Hunts Point’s future.
