The Elle, a 163-unit apartment building located in the heart of downtown Washington D.C., has recently celebrated its grand opening. Formerly known as the Peace Corps headquarters, this highly anticipated office-to-residential conversion has been transformed into a modern and luxurious living space.
The project’s debut was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Muriel Bowser, district leaders, and Willco – the building owners. Situated at 1111 20th St. NW in the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID), The Elle apartments offer 163 units that have replaced an old office building.
According to Mayor Bowser, “the transformation of Downtown DC is focused on people.” This conversion aligns with their goal of bringing more people into downtown areas through repurposing spaces for residential use.
Residents can enjoy various amenities such as a rooftop pool with stunning views of the city skyline, a state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga studio for wellness enthusiasts, an exclusive dog spa for furry companions’ pampering needs ,and community room perfect for social gatherings. With several other office-to-residential conversions underway throughout D.C., there are many more planned developments within Golden Triangle BID’s future plans.
This marks yet another successful transformation contributing to Downtown DC’s revitalization efforts – one that prioritizes creating vibrant communities where residents can live comfortably while being close to all that this bustling city has to offer.
