The city of Pasadena is moving forward with a much-needed renovation for its 40-year-old convention center. A $50 million budget has been approved to revamp and expand the center, as well as the municipal fairgrounds.
One of the main components of this project is a new 110,000-square-foot multipurpose arena that will seat 7,500 people. This addition will create an impressive complex spanning approximately 153,000 square feet. Along with this expansion, updates are planned for meeting rooms, restrooms and overall finishes in the existing building. The property also includes plans to enhance rodeo and livestock facilities on its sprawling 300-acre site at Fairmont Parkway.
This popular venue already hosts several major events each year such as the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, Strawberry Festival and gun shows. With these improvements in place once completed by selected contractors and architects at a later date – it’s expected that even more large-scale events will be drawn to this location.
Funding for this project comes from sales tax revenue bonds through Pasadena Economic Development Council – without any impact on local sales or property taxes rates for residents.
