**Japanese Firm and San Antonio-Based Company Launch $40M Manufacturing Venture in Bexar County**
Bexar County Commissioners are finalizing an incentives agreement with Sanko, a Japanese-based packaging manufacturer, and Operational Technologies, a company headquartered in San Antonio. The two firms are joining forces to establish a new North American manufacturing facility in the county.
The manufacturing plant will focus on producing plastics, logistics products, and material handling systems for use across multiple industries. The joint venture plans to invest $40 million into the project and anticipates hiring 50 employees when operations begin.
To support the development, Bexar County is offering an incentive package that includes a 10-year, 75% tax abatement on both real and personal property investments associated with the project.
The facility is expected to be built along Watson Road, in close proximity to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc., also known as Toyota Texas. The $500 million Toyota plant continues to serve as a major hub for attracting suppliers and related industries to the area.
This project marks another step in Bexar County’s ongoing efforts to expand its advanced manufacturing sector and foster international business partnerships.
