**Barron Development and Hudson Capital Plan Major Overhaul of Plantation Marketplace**

Barron Development and Hudson Capital are proposing a major redevelopment of Plantation Marketplace, seeking to introduce residential living by building 653 apartments while reducing the retail footprint to 60,000 square feet.

According to the South Florida Business Journal, city officials have requested revisions to the initial proposal and have asked the developers to return for a second review.

The preliminary site plan features updated retail offerings along Broward Boulevard, including a grocery store, a linear park, and a central courtyard. Design and planning are being handled by Bizi Architecture & Planning.

Currently, Plantation Marketplace houses tenants such as Amped Fitness, Just Spoons Café, Food Fair Wholesale, and Plato’s Closet. The nearly 23-acre site is home to a 238,136-square-foot retail center originally built in 1976. Barron and Hudson acquired the property for $45.7 million in 2022. They argue that the center’s current layout is outdated and aim to modernize the property to align with current development trends.
