A rundown hotel in Osceola County is set to undergo a major transformation thanks to a redevelopment plan. The Meyers Group has partnered with the county to revamp the abandoned Orlando Sun Resort & Spa, which currently has 900 rooms. The project will include new hotels, restaurants, conference and meeting spaces, museums, and live entertainment. With an initial investment of $192 million estimated by the company, this development aims to revitalize the area.
Previous plans for this site included 800 square feet of retail space along with entertainment and dining options spanning over 500 hotel rooms. Located at 6375 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee, the property has been closed since its closure in 2012.
According to reports from Orlando Business Journal,a memorandum of understanding between Meyers Group and Osceola County would pave way for a development agreement. The developer also intends on establishing a community development district called Ovation Community Development District,to help fund this ambitious project.
Overall, this partnership between Meyers GroupandOsceola County presents an exciting opportunity for revitalizinga blighted site into something that will benefit both locals and tourists alike.
