Amazon is expanding its data center operations in Arlington, Oregon by purchasing a 400-acre site. According to a report from Oregon Live, the tech giant has acquired an additional 376 acres of land for $10 million and an extra 30 acres from the Port of Arlington for $3 million. This expansion will add to Amazon’s existing facilities in nearby counties and further strengthen its presence in eastern Oregon where it already operates large data centers.
The newly acquired land is located along the Columbia River east of Portland and is part of Amazon’s ongoing efforts to develop the data center industry in the Pacific Northwest. In line with its goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2040, Amazon also announced plans to partner with energy companies and invest in small modular nuclear reactors back in 2024. The company continues to make significant strides towards sustainable growth while expanding its operations across various regions.
