According to a report from the Chicago-Sun Times, the Chicago Bears have been considering a new stadium location south of Soldier Field. However, this proposal has faced opposition from Friends of the Park, an advocacy group known for successfully blocking other development projects in the area.
Executive Director Juanita Irizarry stated that Friends of the Park is committed to protecting and preserving Chicago’s lakefront as they have done for many years. She emphasized that this particular parcel is protected by both state and city laws.
The Bears have been actively searching for a new venue and have met with various officials including Mayor Johnson and Naperville’s Mayor Scott Wehrli. Despite these efforts, Friends of the Park maintains that any construction on their beloved lakefront would be unacceptable as it belongs to all citizens.
This stance against potential development was expressed by Connect CRE without mentioning specific organizations or locations involved in discussions about building a new stadium.
