Realterm has recently finished the construction of O’Hare International Airport’s Northeast Cargo campus, a major development that will enhance the airport’s capacity as a leading global shipping hub.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate this achievement, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson joined forces with the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) and other collaborators such as BOWA Construction. In his statement, Johnson expressed how these new cargo facilities will support Chicago’s role in importing essential goods from around the world and distributing them across all corners of America. Additionally, he highlighted how this project has created job opportunities for local communities.
The final phase of Realterm’s Northeast Cargo campus was completed last year and is now fully operational. This addition includes 130,000 square feet of space and two aircraft parking positions to expand on the existing cargo area.
According to Tim Scholten, senior vice president at BOWA Construction: “Air cargo plays an integral role in driving our city’s economy through O’Hare International Airport.” He also added that witnessing full operations at Northeast Air Cargo facility is an immensely proud moment for both their team and construction partners alike.
