"Office Re-Emerges as Primary Workplace: A Look at VTS"

According to the first-ever Global Workplace Report by VTS, a leading commercial real estate platform, 59% of office occupiers are currently mandating or encouraging their employees to spend more time in-office. This number is expected to increase even further over the next six months with an additional 55% planning to do so.

The report surveyed hundreds of business leaders and aimed to provide insight into the needs, sentiment, and behavior of tenants regarding their workplace as we head towards 2024. While almost 60% of respondents said that their employees work from home at some point during the week, only a mere 1% have gone fully remote in North America and Europe.

Therefore, it is crucial for landlords and companies alike to focus on strengthening existing tenant relationships and investing in technology that can effectively manage hybrid work environments. As VTS CEO Nick Romito states: “As companies’ return-to-work plans continue to take shape…the office has re-emerged as the primary place of business for today’s workforce.” With this shift back towards physical offices comes a change in tenant demands which must be addressed through proper onsite experiences and technological advancements.
