"Office Conversion Approved for Charlotte Developer"

Childress Klein has received approval to transform a Charlotte office complex into a mixed-use development. The company was granted rezoning by the City Council for their project, called Esplanade at SouthPark. This will allow for up to 675 multifamily units and 277,000 square feet of office space.

According to the site plan, this includes an existing 77,000 square feet of office space. Childress Klein purchased the property in June 2023 for $31 million and plans to renovate it from its current state as an office building built in 1982.

The development also includes Rexford Park II at 2115 Rexford Road which will remain as a separate building within the project’s boundaries.

The new project is expected to consist of four buildings with outdoor amenities and green spaces throughout. The Charlotte Business Journal reports that construction is set to begin soon on this exciting new venture by Childress Klein.
