New York City FC has recently shared new information about their upcoming 25,000-seat stadium in Willets Point. According to a report by the New York Business Journal, the southern entrance of the stadium, known as The Cube, will stand at seven stories tall and feature over 11,000 square feet of LED lighting for an immersive visual experience.
In addition to this impressive feature, plans for the project also include building 2,500 affordable-housing units and retail spaces along with open areas. Construction began last year and is expected to be completed by 2027 – just in time for the nearby MetLife Stadium’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup Final in 2026.
According to NYCFC CEO Brad Sims during an interview: “It means taking control of our own destiny when it comes to event management. We will oversee operations at this facility every day throughout the year.” This presents numerous opportunities for revenue through sponsorships and selling assets related to events held at The Cube. It opens up potential growth prospects for our team.”
