NYCEDC Hiring Construction Manager for Kips Bay Life Science Campus

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a construction management firm to oversee the first phase of the Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay project. This project aims to transform Hunter College’s Brookdale School of Nursing Campus into nearly two million square feet of academic, healthcare, and life sciences space.

The contract award is expected to exceed $1 billion and will be governed by a Project Labor Agreement. Construction is scheduled to commence in late 2025 with completion anticipated in 2031. The RFP can be accessed here.

An expert construction manager will supervise the deconstruction of existing buildings on Hunter Brookdale School of Nursing campus, as well as oversee the construction process for Phase One of SPARC Kips Bay development. Additionally, they will manage reconstruction efforts for the current pedestrian bridge over FDR Drive on 25th Street.

“This transformative project solidifies New York City’s position as a global leader in life sciences while promoting an inclusive economy,” stated NYCEDC President & CEO Andrew Kimball. “Securing an experienced construction manager marks significant progress towards making this vision a reality and establishing an innovative campus that cultivates diverse talent seeking opportunities within life sciences and health industries.”
