"November Marks the Start of Construction on Texas A&M Space Institute Facility"

Texas A&M has received a $200 million allocation to construct a new facility at the Johnson Space Center. This state-of-the-art building will house scientists and other personnel who will support various missions, including training, research in aeronautics, advanced robotics, and exploration of the moon and Mars.

Construction is set to begin in mid-November with an expected completion date of 2026. The institute will be situated on 32 acres within NASA’s Exploration Park development on Saturn Lane just outside the controlled-access area of Johnson Space Center. Spanning approximately 400,000 square feet, this building is expected to be an impressive addition to the campus.

According to reports from Houston Business Journal , two local companies – Energy Architecture and Vaughn Construction – have been selected as architect and contractor for this project respectively.

Funding for this endeavor was made possible by last year’s approval of a $350 million legislative package which also supports other initiatives related to Texas A&M’s Space Institute. With work beginning soon on this cutting-edge facility, exciting advancements are sure to come from Texas A&M’s space program in the near future.
