Novant Health has submitted an application to a North Carolina regulatory agency for the construction of a new hospital in Wake County. This region is already home to three established health systems: Duke Health, UNC Health, and WakeMed.
The proposed facility, called Novant Health Knightdale Medical Center, would initially include 36 licensed acute care beds, 12 unlicensed observation beds, and one operating room. There is also potential for future expansion on the site located in Knightdale east of Raleigh.
The estimated cost for this project is $287 million which covers land and site expenses. Novant plans to purchase a 35-acre property near Hodge Road and I-87 interchange for the hospital. According to Triangle Business Journal , if approved by regulators, Novant intends to develop additional services around the facility such as medical offices as well as imaging and pharmacy services.
