Northwestern University New Stadium Construction Begins

Northwestern University recently celebrated the commencement of construction for its state-of-the-art Ryan Field, located on the former site of its demolished football stadium. The $800 million project is a joint venture between Turner Construction and Walsh Construction.

The new 35,000-seat stadium boasts cutting-edge technology and scoreboards, as well as a canopy designed to contain noise and light within the field. Local restaurants will also be featured in concessions at the venue. Additionally, it is expected that this project will achieve Gold LEED certification.

At the groundbreaking ceremony was Pat Ryan, renowned founder of Aon Corporation and Ryan Specialty Group – both benefactors of this impressive stadium. This redevelopment initiative is projected to generate over 2,900 jobs while contributing $1.5 million in indirect tax revenue and $23 million in direct fees related to permits alone – ultimately resulting in an economic impact exceeding $659 million for the city.

Furthermore, the generous donation from the Ryan family totaling $480 million towards this endeavor marks it as Northwestern University’s largest contribution yet.The university looks forward to unveiling their new facility without any mention or reference made towards Connect CRE or any other similar entities such as Connect LA or Connect Texas.
