Bank construction financing and the opening of a $81.7 million hotel within the Nora District illustrate that institutional capital remains available for branded hospitality anchored in larger mixed-use plans.

The Nora Hotel has officially opened in West Palm Beach’s Nora District, bringing a new hospitality offering to the emerging mixed-use neighborhood. The property is described as having an estimated development value of $81.7 million and represents a collaboration among several well-known real estate and hospitality players.

BD Hotels, working with a group led by Sean MacPherson, is credited with shaping the hotel’s overall concept. According to reporting cited from the South Florida Business Journal, the development team for the project includes NDT Development, Place Projects and Wheelock Street Capital. Together, these firms brought the hotel component of the larger Nora District vision to fruition.

Construction financing for the hotel was secured in 2024, when BD Hotels obtained a $75 million construction loan from Metropolitan Commercial Bank. JLL is reported to have arranged the financing, underscoring the role of intermediary capital markets advisors in moving the project forward. The loan proceeds supported development of the Gachot-designed hotel within the broader mixed-use plan.

The Nora Hotel delivers 201 guest rooms, including one-bedroom suites, an executive suite and accessible accommodations. The design is attributed to Gachot, aligning the property with a more tailored, design-forward positioning. Nightly rates at the hotel are reported to begin at $395, placing it in an upper-tier pricing bracket for the local market.

Amenities at the property are said to include several restaurant concepts, a rooftop pool and a spa, all integrated into the surrounding mixed-use environment. These offerings are intended to serve both hotel guests and visitors to the Nora District, reinforcing the area’s positioning as a destination for hospitality, retail and office users.

The hotel forms part of a larger phased development strategy. The first phase of the Nora District was planned to deliver more than 150,000 square feet of retail space alongside 55,000 square feet of second-floor Class A creative office space. Future phases are expected to introduce multifamily residences and additional commercial space, indicating that the district’s build-out will extend beyond the initial hospitality and first-phase retail and office components.

With the opening of the Nora Hotel and the initial phase program, the Nora District continues to evolve as a multi-use environment, combining hospitality, retail, office and future residential elements within West Palm Beach.
