Newmark has been named the exclusive leasing agent for Extell Development Company’s ground-up medical office property at 1520 First Ave. The 435,000-square-foot, 30-story mixed use tower will be the first privately built medical office building developed on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Executive managing directors Justin DiMare and Jonathan Fanuzzi have been assigned to manage leasing operations of this state of the art facility.
Extell founder and chairman Gary Barnett commented “The current medical office inventory in New York City is not equipped to meet modern needs of today’s healthcare industry as institutions are growing rapidly creating an immediate need for more space.” He added “We saw this as an opportunity to bring superior quality and craftsmanship found at all Extell properties into this new facility.”
In fall 2021, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), a world leading academic center focused on musculoskeletal health was announced as anchor tenant at 1520 First Ave., with completion slated in second quarter 2025.
