A new semiconductor manufacturer could bring significant benefits to the Phoenix area, similar to what has been seen with the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. plant. Hyperion Technologies is currently considering building a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility in Peoria and has shared its plans on their website.
The newly formed company aims to establish a West Valley plant for high-density interconnect substrates, which are essential for semiconductor chip functionality. The proposed 600,000-square-foot factory would create up to 1,500 jobs in Peoria and is estimated to have an economic output of $6.6 billion over ten years in the Phoenix region while also generating 4,500 construction jobs.
Hyperion will join other companies supporting the growing semiconductor industry in Arizona such as Amkor Technology Inc., who plans on constructing a $2 billion packaging plant nearby along Loop 303 from Taiwan Semiconductor’s massive $65 billion facility located north of Phoenix.
Construction for Hyperion’s project is expected to begin by late-2025 with completion anticipated by late-2026.
