"New Phase of Chevy Chase Mixed-Use Project Announced"

The Chevy Chase Land Company and Bozzuto have received preliminary plan approval for “Block A” or Chevy Chase Lake West, the next phase of their transit-oriented mixed-use project. This development is located at 8550 Connecticut Ave., adjacent to Bethesda, and spans approximately 16 acres. It is tied to a forthcoming Purple Line rail transit station.

Currently, the development includes retail spaces and residential buildings such as The Barrett, The Claude, and Ritz Carlton condominiums. These buildings are home to various tenants including Amazon Fresh.

The goal of this new phase is to replace an underutilized area with a multifamily-over-retail building consisting of 220 units. These will include townhouse-style apartments as well as up to 28 dwelling units. In addition, there will be approximately 19,000 square feet of retail and commercial space introduced in this phase.

This latest update marks significant progress for the ongoing Chevy Chase mixed-use project near Bethesda’s bustling downtown area.
