**Affordable Housing for Homeless Opens in Houston**

The NHP Foundation (NHPF) has officially opened RoseMary’s Place, a new $45 million affordable housing community located at 3300 Caroline Street in Midtown Houston. The development adds 149 affordable rental units specifically dedicated to individuals exiting homelessness, marking a significant milestone in Houston’s ongoing efforts to combat homelessness. The project broke ground in February 2023.

Funding for RoseMary’s Place came from a combination of public and private sources, including:

– $18.7 million from the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department
– $10.2 million from the Harris County Community Services Department
– $13.6 million from the sale of tax credits to Hudson Housing
– A $2.4 million sponsor loan from Magnificat Houses Inc.

The four-story building features a wide range of amenities designed to provide residents with stability, support, and community. These include on-site property management offices, Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) services, three multipurpose rooms, two communal gathering areas, a warming kitchen, and a 24-hour staffed entry desk.

According to the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, over 3,200 individuals experience homelessness on any given night in the region. RoseMary’s Place serves as a critical step forward in addressing this issue by providing long-term, dignified housing solutions and supportive services aimed at helping residents rebuild their lives.
