Conroe, Texas has been selected as the location for the new Health Professions Building at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). This state-of-the-art facility will span 85,000 square feet and is estimated to cost $70 million. It will serve as the hub for SHSU’s allied health programs including athletic training, dietetics, physician’s assistant and physical therapy. Additionally, it will house both the Master of Science program in athletic training and Master of Science in dietetics which are currently located in Huntsville.
The building boasts a variety of features such as skills labs, active learning classrooms with advanced technology capabilities, a seminar room with demo kitchen facilities,a control room for athletic training students,and various other amenities like exam rooms,huddle rooms,and conference rooms. The multipurpose room can be utilized by students for multiple purposes.
In addition to academic spaces,the design also includes essential campus resources such as a library,a food pantry,dining options,and student services.The project is set to commence construction this May with an expected completion date of January 2026.The architect behind this impressive structure is SmithGroup from Michigan while Arizona-based Kitchell serves as the construction manager at risk.
