"New $206M Raleigh City Hall Construction Currently in Progress"

Construction is in full swing at the site of the East Civic Tower, a new city hall complex located on Hargett and McDowell streets across from Nash Square. This prime location is adjacent to the current municipal complex.

According to reports from The Triad Business Journal, this project has a budget of $206 million and groundbreaking took place last summer. The 17-story tower will house not only City Council chambers but also office space and conference rooms for various city departments.

The completion of this tower will allow for consolidation of most city operations and staff into one central building. Ratio leads the design team while Brasfield & Gorrie and Holt Brothers Construction are handling construction.

Once completed in 2026, the building will span 370,000 square feet. In 2018, City Council approved a master plan that included three buildings on this block – with two others replacing both the municipal building and City Park garage.
