WS Development recently celebrated a significant achievement with the opening of 400 Summer Street in Boston Seaport. The building, which has achieved LEED Platinum certification, is now home to Foundation Medicine and marks the first completed highway air rights project in Boston since 1983. It also represents the largest relocation of a life sciences organization since 2011, according to a release from WS Development.
Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects in collaboration with Stantec and other partners, this impressive 16-story building boasts over 600,000 square feet of laboratory and office space as well as an additional 30,000 square feet for retail purposes. Additionally, it features the Summer Street Steps – an innovative addition that enhances pedestrian and bicycle connectivity between South Boston and Seaport.
Mayor Michelle Wu expressed her excitement about this development stating that “Boston thrives on bridging communities…Congratulations to WS Development on completing this transformational project which will bring our communities closer together while supporting our city’s residents.”
