"New $1.2B Terminal Construction Begins for SAT Airport"

Construction has officially begun on the new $1.2 billion terminal at San Antonio International Airport (SAT). The state-of-the-art terminal will span over 850,000 square feet and feature up to 17 gates, making it one of the largest medium-sized airports in the U.S.

Designed to meet SAT’s rapid growth, this project is expected to not only accommodate current needs but also boost the local economy and set a new standard for future airport development. The highly-anticipated terminal is scheduled to open by mid-2028 and will support an estimated 16,000 jobs during its construction phase.

The airport has experienced record-breaking passenger travel every month this year, highlighting the need for expansion. Some of the exciting amenities that passengers can look forward to in this new terminal include up to 17 domestic and international gates by mid-2028; over 850,000 square feet of modernized space with additional concession areas spanning approximately 41,000 square feet; as well as luxurious club lounge spaces totaling more than29 ,000 square feet. Additionally,the gate hold rooms will be larger in size for enhanced passenger comfort.
