The town of Fuquay-Varina experienced a population increase from 18,000 in 2010 to nearly 40,000. In response to this rapid growth, town leaders are taking swift action to accommodate the influx of residents. Recently, nine parcels totaling 87.98 acres were rezoned from residential agriculture to commercial mixed-use.
This rezoning will pave the way for a new development called Vaughan Park which will feature various buildings including a medical facility, two multifamily buildings, six commercial structures and six mixed-use properties. The multifamily portion of the project is expected to consist of 742 units and is being led by DR Horton as the main developer. Along with these developments, hundreds of homes will also be built.
Vaughan Park will be divided into two distinct sections with their own unique amenities and features. The west side will offer residents access to a swimming pool and promenade adorned with public art pieces as well as two playgrounds and a greenway that surrounds wetlands and ponds.
On the east side of Vaughan Park there will be additional amenities such as another swimming pool along with a clubhouse for community gatherings or events. Residents can also enjoy spending time at the playground or food truck area complete with shelter while pet owners have access to an on-site dog park.
