NASA Offers Land for Space Systems Campus

NASA’s Johnson Space Center has announced plans to lease underutilized land in Houston’s Exploration Park to the American Center for Manufacturing & Innovation (ACMI). This new development in the space industry is expected to create over 1,000 jobs once fully operational. The lease agreement spans 20 years.

Dubbed as the Space Systems Campus, ACMI aims to establish an applied research facility that will collaborate with various stakeholders from academia, government agencies such as the Department of Defense and local economic development organizations.

According to John Burer of ACMI, this campus will cater to a diverse range of stakeholders and focus on scaling emerging technologies and manufacturing processes for space systems. Through close collaboration with tenants and partners, they aim to develop specialized capabilities that complement NASA Johnson’s expertise while driving commercialization efforts in robotics, autonomous systems and materials science within the space industry.

This announcement was made by NASA through Connect CRE.
