NAR CEO Bob Goldberg Steps Down - Latest Updates and Developments

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has announced the appointment of Nykia Wright as interim CEO, effective Nov. 20. Former CEO Bob Goldberg, who had previously announced his retirement plans in June, stated that he believes “now is the opportune time for this exceptional organization to look towards the future.” Goldberg will continue to serve as an executive consultant for NAR during this transition period.

Currently in search for a permanent CEO, NAR has chosen Wright due to her successful tenure as CEO at Chicago Sun-Times where she spearheaded a digital transformation and oversaw its merger with WBEZ (Chicago Public Media).

“We are thrilled to have Nykia join us as our interim CEO,” said NAR president Tracy Kasper. “Her extensive experience in driving organizational change makes her well-suited to advance our strategic goals and foster a positive company culture. I am eager to collaborate with her alongside our Leadership Team and staff members in further strengthening our association.”

Kasper also expressed gratitude towards Goldberg’s leadership and dedication throughout his decades-long service at NAR: “It has been an honor working alongside him on expanding and fortifying our organization; we congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement. His contributions have been invaluable not only within our association but also within the real estate industry.”

This announcement comes just two days after a federal jury ruled against NAR and several brokerages for conspiring together resulting in inflated home sales commissions totaling $1.78 billion worth of damages – which was promptly appealed by the association.
