The 27th Annual NAIOP SoCal UCLA vs. USC Real Estate Challenge recently concluded with the five-member graduate student team from USC emerging as the winner. After delivering a presentation to a panel of esteemed industry judges, they were awarded the silver shovel trophy for their outstanding performance.
Held on November 21st at USC, this year’s competition saw teams from both UCLA and USC competing against each other to determine the best use for a unique parcel of land in Southern California. The site chosen for this challenge was a 9.27-acre portion of the Raytheon Campus in El Segundo that is currently undergoing redevelopment.
USC’s winning proposal, titled “The Concourse,” impressed judges with its innovative concept that featured a medical campus along with retail space and modern data center facilities equipped with substation capabilities. This proposed development not only met community needs but also proved to be financially viable.
The winning team consisted of Austin Risley, Jonathan Moftakhar, Alexandria Gordon, Austin Adams and Sagiv Hartmayer – all graduate students representing various schools within USC such as Marshall School of Business and Price School of Public Policy.
