"Moving Forward with NW Austin Eco-Development"

RealPage founder Steve Winn is facing challenges in the development of Mirasol Springs, but remains determined to see it through. The 1,400-acre project near the Pedernales River will feature homes, a hotel, restaurants and a research site for students at The University of Texas. However, some local residents have expressed concerns about water and wastewater usage. Despite this opposition, the developers aim for Mirasol Springs to be an example of responsible stewardship and eco-friendly design.

The development plans include an Auberge Resort Collection Hotel with 73 rooms (similar to their Commodore Perry Estate in Austin), as well as 30 resort-branded residences. Additionally, there will be two restaurants and event spaces available for visitors. The UT Biodiversity Field Station will also be located within the development.

Construction is expected to begin in summer 2025 unless halted by any further obstacles from opponents. An opening date of 2027 has been projected along with completion by 2032 including the field station’s completion date. The latest update on this eco-development shows that it continues moving forward despite initial pushback from locals concerned about its environmental impact.
