### Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Expands Pittsburgh Factory with $86M Investment
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI) has officially begun construction on a new $86 million factory and testing laboratory in New Galilee, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The 160,000-square-foot facility is expected to create at least 200 new jobs while also supporting the retention of 806 existing positions in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The expansion follows an announcement by Governor Josh Shapiro in October 2024, detailing the Commonwealth’s investment of over $6.7 million to aid MEPPI’s growth in the region. The company received a funding package from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), including a $4 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant and a $2.75 million Pennsylvania First grant.
The new facility will enhance MEPPI’s capabilities by transitioning the production of gas-insulated circuit breakers to vacuum breakers. Additionally, the expanded power electronics facilities and testing laboratory will further solidify the company’s commitment to advanced energy solutions.
“We’re not just breaking ground on a new facility; we are advancing Mitsubishi Electric’s investment in North America by engineering and delivering the infrastructure of the future,” said Tricia Breeger, President and CEO of MEPPI.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for MEPPI, reinforcing its role in developing innovative energy solutions across North America.
